Alternative Education Centers

As a commitment to education, Los Fresnos CISD houses two alternative education centers for students who have been removed from their regular campus:

  • College, Career and Technology Academy (CCTA)
  • Disciplinary Alternative Education Center (DAEP)

The Centers provide meaningful educational experiences for assigned students in a well-disciplined environment that provides consistency, structure, targeted instruction, and support-related services so that each student will grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Students are still enrolled in the Los Fresnos CISD but will continue striving towards graduation with the assistance of dedicated administrative team, high-qualified teachers, and committed staff members. Meals, textbooks, and TEKS-based instruction are continuous services offered to students during their placement.

CCTA supports students who have dropped out of school or not fulfilled graduation requirements. CCTA focuses on young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 who attended Los Fresnos High School for a minimum of one year but did not complete graduation requirements. The campus is designed for students who lack 12 credits or less to graduate and/or who have not passed the required state assessments.

DAEP is an educational and self-discipline alternative instruction program for students in elementary through high school grades who are removed from their regular classes for mandatory or discretionary disciplinary reasons and placed in a DAEP.
