Bullying Prevention and Intervention

Definition of Bullying:

Bullying occurs when a student or group of students engages in written or verbal expression or physical conduct that:

1. Will have the effect of physically harming a student, damaging a student's property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of harm to the student's person or of damage to the student's property; or

2. Is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive enough that the action or threat creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for a student.

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets.  Cyberbullying can occur through texts and apps or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content.  Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else.  It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation.

Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.
