Chief Academic Officer
Mrs. Holly Maldonado has served Los Fresnos CISD since 2004 where she began her career at Los Fresnos Elementary. During her time there, she taught students in 4th and 5th grade and then campus-wide as science lab teacher. Next, she transitioned to science teacher at Los Cuates Middle School before supporting district-wide as strategist. For a decade, Mrs. Maldonado worked closely with teachers and administrators to make instructional decisions aimed at continuous growth while providing students opportunities for success in the classroom and beyond. One of the most significant academic programs that she assisted with in her time as strategist was Project Lead the Way (PLTW).
Mrs. Maldonado’s administrative experience began as Dean of Liberty Memorial Middle School and as additional leadership roles called at Palmer-Laakso and Lopez-Riggins Elementary, she wholeheartedly supported. Most recently, Mrs. Maldonado has led as principal of Dora Romero Elementary. She is grateful for the commitment of the entire school community in setting high expectations and working together to achieve them. This particular school year has given her great pride as she’s observed and connected with her “grand students”, children of former LFE students who sat in her classroom not too long ago.
Mrs. Maldonado earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Graceland University, her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Texas at Brownsville, and her Certificate in Principal Education from Lamar University.
Mrs. Maldonado is honored to share her passion across the district and community for making a difference in the lives of others through educational opportunities. As a first generation college graduate, she is mindful to the positive and lasting effects educators have in each student’s life.
