Los Fresnos CISD earned an A accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the 2025–2026 school year and received the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction.
Texas’ A–F Accountability System evaluates the performance of public school districts and campuses using three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps. The accountability system incorporates measures including STAAR performance and academic growth, graduation rates, College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR), and the performance of student groups.
The district’s 2025–2026 accountability results reflect improvement across elementary, middle and secondary campus levels.
“These results reflect the collective work taking place across our district and our continued focus on academic excellence,” said Holly Maldonado, Chief Academic Officer for Los Fresnos CISD. “We are grateful to all of our district staff—teachers, administrators, campus teams, and support staff—who play a critical role in supporting student learning and academic growth. We are especially proud of our students and the hard work they have put into their learning and achievement, and we extend our sincere appreciation to our families for their continued partnership and support."
In addition to its overall accountability rating, Los Fresnos CISD received the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction. TEA distinction designations recognize achievement in specific academic areas based on performance indicators and comparisons with similar districts or campuses.
The Postsecondary Readiness Distinction evaluates indicators associated with preparing students for education, training and careers after high school. At the district level, the designation incorporates applicable measures established by TEA, which may include graduation outcomes, College, Career and Military Readiness, college-readiness measures and student performance.
“The Postsecondary Readiness Distinction reflects our commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school,” said Justin Stumbaugh, Los Fresnos High School Principal. “We are proud of our students and grateful to the educators and staff who provide them with the opportunities and support to prepare for college, career and their next steps.”
The 2025–2026 accountability results provide the district with information to measure academic performance and progress across campuses and identify areas for continued growth.
