Nine Los Fresnos High School Seniors Earn Associate Degrees Through Dual Enrollment

Nine Los Fresnos High School seniors graduated on Saturday, December 13, as part of Texas Southmost College’s Fall Commencement, earning an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies. This marks the largest Fall cohort of dual-enrollment associate degree graduates in school history.

The students completed 60 college credit hours through the Dual Enrollment Program, which allows high school students to take college-level courses at no cost while earning credit toward both high school and college requirements.

“This outstanding group reflects the dedication, ambition, and perseverance of our students,” said Celina Grienier, Director for Advanced Academics. “They continue to set a strong example for future Falcons.”

Dual Enrollment opportunities are available to all eligible Los Fresnos United and Los Fresnos High School students who meet TSIA2 placement requirements. Courses are taught on campus by qualified LFCISD instructors, and earned credits may apply toward a degree at TSC or transfer to most public colleges and universities in Texas.

“We’re proud to help students get a head start on their postsecondary journey at no cost,” said Laura Gomez Trevino, Higher Education Coordinator.
