Los Fresnos CISD hosted its annual “Cosecha de Libros” Biliteracy Night, a vibrant celebration promoting literacy among families, the community, and bilingual learners. The event took place on Thursday, November 6, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on the lawn of Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium.
Hundreds of attendees enjoyed an evening full of creativity and connection. All district campuses participated, hosting themed booths inspired by children’s books in Spanish, transforming stories into colorful, interactive displays that brought reading to life. Departments across the district, including the Bilingual/ESL, Academics, and Library Services teams, collaborated with community organizations to provide valuable resources and information for families. Guests also enjoyed engaging activities, delicious treats, and numerous opportunities for students and parents to celebrate the joy of reading together.
“Our Biliteracy Night is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of language, learning, and culture,” said Rosemary Leal, Bilingual Education Director at Los Fresnos CISD. “In our community, being biliterate and bicultural opens doors for students academically and socially. It helps them embrace their heritage while preparing them for a world that values multilingual skills and cultural understanding.”
The district also extends heartfelt thanks to the Bilingual Education Department, community sponsors, volunteers, and students who made the evening possible. Their dedication ensured a memorable experience for all attendees and highlighted the collaborative spirit of the Los Fresnos community.
This is the fifth year the “Cosecha de Libros” continues to emphasize the importance of bilingualism and the rich cultural heritage that makes Los Fresnos unique.
