50 Los Fresnos High School Students named AP Scholars For 2023-2024 School Year

The CollegeBoard has named 50 Los Fresnos High School students as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars for the 2023-2024 school year.

This prestigious distinction honors students who have excelled in their AP courses and exams, demonstrating exceptional academic achievement and dedication to their studies.

This year, the school celebrates a strong cohort of AP Scholars, with a record number of students earning top honors. Among the 50 students, there were 12 AP Scholars with Distinction, 13 AP Scholars with Honors, and 25 AP Scholars.

An AP Scholar is a student who has demonstrated outstanding performance on multiple Advanced Placement exams.  AP Scholars scored 3 or better on three or more AP exams; AP Scholars with Honor scored 3 or better on four or more AP exams and an average of 3.25 on AP exams taken; AP Scholars with Distinction scored 3 or better on five or more AP exams, and an average of 3.5 on all AP exams taken.

The CollegeBoard AP Scholar awards are given to students who perform well on Advanced Placement exams, which are college-level assessments offered to high school students. AP exams cover a variety of subjects, from mathematics and science to history, languages, and the arts.

"We are incredibly proud of our students and their accomplishments," said Laura Trevino, Los Fresnos High School. "The AP Scholar distinction not only enhances their college applications, but also prepares them for the challenges of post-secondary education.”

Many colleges and universities offer credit or advanced placement for students who perform well on these exams, helping to give them a head start in their higher education journey.
