Aaron Alfonso Molina, Valedictorian

 

Aaron Alfonso Molina is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2022. He is the son of Manuel Molina and Beatriz Vasquez.

 

Aaron is member of various organizations, including UIL Academics, National Honor Society, and High School Aerospace Scholars.  He is also a member of RGV LEAD and a four-year member of Health Occupations Students of America.

 

Aaron says that a healthy work-life balance, requesting assistance, and the integration of technology into study have been keys to his road to success.

 

Aaron will attend Princeton University with all costs covered by the prestigious Gates Scholarship. He earned an additional $1.1 million in scholarship monies, $264,220 of which is from Princeton University. He completed 13 AP courses and 10 dual credit hours that will assist in his pursuit of a Doctorate degree in Mathematics.  He has aspirations of becoming a professor.

 

He is a product of Los Fresnos C.I.S.D. schools, attending Olmito Elementary School, Resaca Middle School, and Los Fresnos High School.

Gabriana Garrido, Salutatorian

 

Gabriana Garrido is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Alfonso and Deborah Garrido. 

 

Gabriana is an active member of the Rotary Interact Club and National Honor Society, and takes pride in volunteering her time for the Los Fresnos community. She is an accomplished athlete, logging four years on the varsity Golf team, serving as co-captain her senior year.  She also played basketball for four years and volleyball for two.

 

Blending her studies with extracurricular activities have been a key to her success, Gabriana says staying active helped created an outlet, while also creating lasting memories. She says she looks forward to heading to Texas A&M University in College Station this fall and continuing her growth path. She will pursue a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and hopes assist in producing new medical machinery that will detect illnesses faster.

Ava Barrera, Third Ranking Student

 

Ava Barrera ranks third in the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Darrick and Mayra Barrera.

 

Ava is a proud member of DECA, National Honor Society, RGV Lead, National Hispanic Institute, and mock trial. She was also a part of the Cheerleading team and enjoyed volunteering at beach cleanups and animal shelters. 

 

A strong start and dedication to her studies gave Ava a leg up in her journey through high school.  She says applying to college early was a critical key to securing her spot at her choice university.

 

Ava will attend the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, with a possible focus on Business Marketing or Management.  Her graduate plans are to attend the University of Texas Law School and pursue a career as an attorney.

 

Ava attended Villareal Elementary School, Resaca Middle School, and Los Fresnos High School.

Daniella Cardenas, Fourth Ranking Student

 

Daniella Cardenas ranks fourth in the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Angel Cardenas and Julia Cardenas.

 

Daniella is a member of the National Honor Society and competed in UIL Math.  She participated in various organizations including Engineering Club, SkillsUSA, RGV Lead, and summer programs like Girls Who Code and NASA MoonShot.

 

Goals and aspirations are a part of a larger picture for Daniella, who says it’s important to stay focused with a realistic perspective on what’s important to be academically successful.  She looks forward to blending academics with new diverse social experiences, as she sets her eyes on her future.

 

Daniella is the recipient of the Questbridge Scholarship, which will fully cover her undergraduate studies at Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Andrea Iturbe, Fifth Ranking Student

 

Andrea Iturbe ranks fifth in the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Edmundo Iturbe and Bertha Aguirre.

 

Andrea served as the captain of the Colorguard and played clarinet in concert band.  She competed in UIL Academics, and was a member of DECA and National Honor Society.  She also gave her time to Seeds of Hope art classes as part of a volunteer program.

 

Staying on task and organized, but knowing her limits, helped Andrea become a star student. 

 

Andrea completed 7 AP classes and 25 dual enrollment credit hours.  She is the recipient of $100,000 in scholarship monies and will major in Biology with a specialization in Biomedical Sciences at Texas State University. She plans to pursue a Master’s degree in the field of genetics, and then work in genetic counseling or research.

Kyle Wallace Londrie, Sixth Ranking Student

 

Kyle Londrie ranks sixth in the Class of 2022. He is the son of Greg Londrie and Valarie Londrie.

 

Kyle is a four-year state DECA qualifier and is a member of National Honor Society.  He is passionate about baseball, participating in the sport all four years of high school and volunteering with Los Fresnos Little League.  He also volunteers with the Laguna Madre Humane Society, and the South Padre Island Food Bank.

 

The balance of school and athletics is what Kyle says helped him to excel to the top of his class.  While his fondest memories were spent on the baseball diamond, his hard work in the dual enrollment program netted him 55 college credit hours.  He also completed two AP courses and  received $25,000 in scholarships.

 

Kyle will attend Texas A&M University, College Station and will Double major in Business Honors and Supply Chain Management with a minor in Statistics.

 

Kyle Londrie attended Olmito Elementary School, Resaca Middle School, and Los Fresnos High School.

Jennifer Laznovsky, Seventh Ranking Student

 

Jennifer Laznovsky ranks seventh in the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Gregg Laznovsky and Maria Laznovsky.

 

Jennifer is a four-year member of the Lady Falcon Golf team, serving as Co-Captain her Senior year. She is also a member of National Honor Society, and Rotary Interact Club of which she is President. 

 

An optimistic outlook helped Jennifer navigate difficult times when her father became ill during her Junior year.  She says the assimilation of technology into school allowed her to thrive while also helping her stay connected to her friends.

 

Jennifer is graduating with 43 college credit hours as she heads to Texas A&M University, College Station this fall.  She plans study Business then hopes to transition to working in corporate sales or marketing management.

Blanca Nathalie Ochoa, Eighth Ranking Student

 

Blanca Ochoa ranks eighth in the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Abraham Ochoa and Blanca Ochoa.

 

Blanca kept busy after school as a member of NHS, NTHS, HOSA, ASL Club, RGV LEAD, and Peer Helpers.  She also competed in UIL Academics, Varsity Mariachi, and Swimming, which gave her the opportunity to volunteer as an instructor at the City of Los Fresnos pool.

 

Spending her free time with her peers performing, competing, or giving back helped Blanca grow and prepare for her future. 

 

Blanca is undecided on what university she will attend, but is passionate about helping others.  She will major in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in American Sign Language.  She hopes to become a Physician Assistant.

 

Blanca Ochoa attended Los Fresnos Elementary, Los Cuates Middle School, and Los Fresnos High School.

Jasmine Lizbeth Ponce, Ninth Ranking Student

 

Jasmine Lizbeth Ponce ranks ninth in the Class of 2022. She is the daughter of Juan G. Ponce and Ofelia Ponce.

 

Jasmine was a leader in volunteering in the community, including beach clean ups, canned food drives, organizing fundraisers, clean-up events, and more.  She was also a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and HOSA.

 

Despite the pressure pursuing academic success brings, it is possible to slow down and relax, says Jasmine.  She says taking breaks and taking in what’s around you is important, as she recalled the last pep rally of 2019 at LFHS as her stand out memory at he district.

 

Jasmine will attend the University of Texas at Arlington on a Presidential Scholarship through the Blaze Forward Program, which will cover all her costs. She has been selected into the Freshman Nursing Scholars Program, guaranteeing a place in the junior year nursing major courses.

 

Jasmine Ponce attended Palmer-Laasko and Laureles Elementaries, Liberty Memorial Middle School, and Los Fresnos High School.

Reiana Apacible, Tenth Ranking Student

Reiana Apacible ranks tenth in the Class of 2022.  She is the daughter of Bryan Apacible and Joy Apacible.

 

Reiana was a competitive swimmer on both the Varsity and USA swimming teams.  She is a member of DECA, RGV LEAD, High School Aerospace Scholars, NHS, and competed in UIL Academics and Science Bowl.

 

“Good morning” are the words that Reiana says she will miss hearing when walking through the doors of Los Fresnos High. She says the guidance from teachers, support of her friends, as well as trusting herself have been key elements in molding her academic outcome.

 

Reiana will take 21 AP Credit Hours, 10 Dual Credit Hours, and three certifications with her to Stony Brook Univeristy. There she will major in Marine Biology with an emphasis on Marine Vertebrae Biology or Conservation.  She hopes to eventually complete her higher education studies at the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

 

Reiana Apacible attended Isabel Pierce Sem Elementary School and Libby Cash Maus Middle School in Frisco, TX, before attending Los Fresnos High School.
