Los Fresnos, TX – The Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees has approved the district’s 2026–2027 budget, reaffirming its commitment to responsible financial planning, employee support, and continued investment in student success.
The approved budget includes $151,906,582 in total governmental funds, with General Fund revenues budgeted at $125,700,818, an increase of approximately 1.7 percent over the original 2025–2026 budget.
As part of the approved plan, the district’s tax rate will decrease to $0.870272 per $100 valuation, reflecting Los Fresnos CISD’s continued effort to balance taxpayer relief with the financial needs of a growing and high-performing school system.
The budget also includes employee pay increases, with a 3 percent raise for professional and certified staff and a 4 percent raise for auxiliary, clerical, and instructional support staff. “This budget reflects a thoughtful approach to balancing fiscal responsibility with continued investment in our employees and students,” said Dr. Joseph Villarreal, Superintendent of Schools. “We are grateful for the Board’s leadership and remain committed to maintaining the strong foundation that supports academic excellence throughout Los Fresnos CISD.”
District officials said the budget was developed with an emphasis on maintaining financial stability, supporting daily operations across the district, and addressing the needs of students and staff across all 14 campuses.
“Los Fresnos CISD remains in a strong financial position because of careful planning and a disciplined approach to budgeting,” said Pablo Bazaldua, Chief Financial Officer. “This budget allows us to meet district priorities, provide meaningful compensation increases for employees, and reduce the tax rate for our community, all while maintaining the fiscal responsibility our stakeholders expect.”
The approved budget continues to support district operations and long-term priorities as Los Fresnos CISD prepares for the 2026–2027 school year.
