Los Fresnos CISD announces that nomination applications for the 2026 Athletic Hall of Honor will open on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Now entering its second year, the Athletic Hall of Honor continues its mission of recognizing and preserving the rich tradition of excellence in Falcon athletics.
Established in 2025, the Athletic Hall of Honor honors former student-athletes, coaches, and teams who have achieved extraordinary success, demonstrated exceptional character, and brought distinction to Los Fresnos High School through their accomplishments on and off the field.
Inaugural Class Celebrated in December 2025
The inaugural Athletic Hall of Honor class was formally inducted during a special ceremony held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Los Fresnos CISD Performing Arts Center. The historic event celebrated an outstanding group of individuals and teams whose achievements span decades of Falcon athletic history.
The inaugural class included the 1964 Falcon Football Team and the 2014 Lady Falcon Volleyball Team, along with individual inductees Corina Cox, Leonel Garza, Javier Medina, Cathi Netemeyer, Jeremy Springer, Justin Springer, and Coach Scott Ford. Together, these honorees represent the determination, leadership, and competitive excellence that define the Falcon tradition.
“The success of our inaugural year exceeded our expectations,” said David Cantu, Los Fresnos CISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. “The overwhelming support from our alumni, families, and community in 2025 reaffirmed just how meaningful Falcon athletics are to Los Fresnos. Moving forward, we believe refining the format and transitioning to a biannual induction allows us to be more intentional, honor each class at the level it deserves, and continue celebrating a community that takes great pride in its athletic legacy.”
Updated Induction Format and Future Schedule
For the 2026 class, the Athletic Hall of Honor may induct up to a total of six honorees, including four athletes, one coach, and one team. Following the 2026 induction, the Athletic Hall of Honor will transition to a biannual format, with future ceremonies held every two years. The next induction after 2026 is scheduled to take place in 2028.
Nomination and Selection Process
Nominations for the 2026 Athletic Hall of Honor will be accepted from current faculty, staff, alumni, and family members of alumni. Honorees are inducted under one of three categories: Athlete, Coach, or Team.
A selection committee—comprised of district leadership, campus representatives, the Athletic Director, and community members—will evaluate nominations based on the information submitted through the online application. The committee may select up to a total of four athletes, one coach, and one team for induction in the 2026 class.
The nomination window will open January 27, 2026, and applications must be submitted by April 1, 2026.
