Los Fresnos, TX — January 2026 — January is School Board Recognition Month, and Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District proudly recognizes its Board of Trustees for their service to students, staff, and the Los Fresnos CISD community. School Board Recognition Month is observed annually by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).
The 2026 theme, Our Future Is Public, highlights the essential role public schools play in preparing students for the future and strengthening communities. Trustees volunteer their time and leadership to help guide the district and make decisions that support student success.
At the January Board meeting, the Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees was formally recognized for their dedication and service. Students from across the district’s 14 campuses participated in a special presentation honoring Trustees with an award of appreciation. Campus administrators were also in attendance to show their support and gratitude.
School boards provide local leadership and oversight for public education. While the state sets education laws, local voters elect school trustees to represent their community and govern their district, ensuring decisions reflect local needs and values. School trustees are the largest group of locally elected officials in Texas and play a vital role in the success of public schools.
