Los Fresnos CISD will mark a major milestone on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with the dual grand opening of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) and the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center. The community is invited to attend from 8:00 a.m. to noon for guided tours, student performances, and live demonstrations showcasing the new facilities.
The projects broke ground in 2024 and officially open for students at the start of this school year. Together, they represent the District’s commitment to expanding opportunities for students in the arts, career training, and technical education.
The morning celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the dedication of the CTE Center, followed by guided tours through industry-aligned labs. The new facility, made possible as part of the 2021 $61 million Bond Issue, includes programs in welding, health sciences, and other pathways designed to prepare students for future careers. In addition, a brand new Agriculture Barn for Animal Science and FFA, is located behind the CTE Center.
CTE Director Rolando Guerra says the center provides students with a bridge between the classroom and the workplace.
“Our students will now be able to prepare for future careers in facilities that mirror real-world environments. From welding bays to health science labs, the CTE Center gives our students an incredible advantage as they look toward college and careers,” Guerra said.
At 10:00 a.m., the celebration will shift to the Performing Arts Center, where guests will gather on the front steps for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The PAC, a state-of-the-art venue, features a main stage theater, backstage rehearsal spaces, and a lobby art gallery. After the ribbon cutting, visitors will enjoy a live performance featuring theater, dance, choir, and band ensembles. The PAC will transform how students and the community experience the arts.
“The PAC is more than a building—it’s a stage where our students’ creativity and hard work can come alive. From the moment the curtains rise, our community will see the talent and dedication of our students shine brighter than ever before,” said Anibal Villarreal, Director of Fine Arts.
Superintendent Dr. Gonzalo Salazar emphasized that none of this would have been possible without the support of the Los Fresnos community.
“Thanks to the support of our community, we now have modern spaces where students can learn, grow, and showcase their talents. These facilities will serve generations of Falcons and are a true reflection of what is possible when a community invests in education,” said Salazar.
The event will also feature student demonstrations, the Presentation of Colors by the NJROTC, and recognition of the Bond Committee as honored guests.
Los Fresnos CISD invites all families, alumni, and community members to take part in this historic day and celebrate the bright future of its students.
