Los Fresnos High School Celebrates Advanced Placement Student Success for the 2024–2025 School Year

Los Fresnos High School is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of its Advanced Placement (AP) students during the 2024–2025 school year. This year marked another exceptional chapter in academic excellence, as students continued to thrive in rigorous college-level coursework and exams.

A total of 276 students participated in AP testing this past school year. Of those, 214 earned a score of 3 or higher—equating to an impressive 78% success rate. These results reflect the dedication, preparation, and academic commitment of Los Fresnos High School students, their teachers, and counseling staff.

Adding to this accomplishment, the CollegeBoard has named 76 Los Fresnos High School students as AP Scholars for the 2024–2025 academic year. This prestigious distinction honors students who have demonstrated exceptional performance across multiple AP exams.

This year, the school celebrates a particularly strong cohort of AP Scholars:

  • 28  students were recognized as AP Scholars, awarded to those who received a score of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
  • 25  students earned the title of AP Scholars with Honor, by scoring 3 or higher on at least four exams and achieving an average score of 3.25 across all tests taken.
  • 23  students attained the elite distinction of AP Scholars with Distinction, scoring 3 or better on five or more AP exams and maintaining an average score of at least 3.5.

“These accomplishments are a reflection of our students’ commitment to academic growth and resilience,” said Celina Grenier, Director for Advanced Academics at Los Fresnos CISD. “Our students have embraced the rigor of AP coursework and demonstrated that they are ready for the challenges of college-level learning.”

Advanced Placement courses offer high school students the opportunity to engage in college-level studies in subjects such as math, science, history, literature, world languages, and the arts. AP exams are administered each spring, and high scores often translate into college credit or advanced standing at many universities, giving students a valuable head start in their academic journeys.

“Every year, we see our AP results continue to grow, and that success is a direct reflection of the hard work and commitment of our students and teachers. I’m incredibly proud of their dedication to academic excellence,” said Justin Stumbaugh, Principal of Los Fresnos High School. “By taking on the challenge of AP courses and earning college credit while still in high school, our students are not only saving time and money—they’re building the skills, discipline, and confidence they need to succeed in college and beyond. This strong foundation is opening doors to future opportunities and long-term success,” Stumbaugh added.

Additionally, the Los Fresnos High School and Los Fresnos United College Centers offer a unique pathway of support and encourage academic excellence by offering a wide array of AP courses and fostering an environment where students can challenge themselves and succeed.  For more information on the AP offerings of the District, please contact the Office of Advanced Academics.
