Los Fresnos CISD announced the recipients of the Teacher of the Year award for the 2025-2026 school year during the annual luncheon held this year at the Culinary Arts Bistro located at the new Career and Technical Education Center Hall.
One teacher from each of the District’s fourteen campuses was chosen by peers in a voting based system. The educator will now proudly represent their respective campus for one year. They will be divided into two pools of candidates that include elementary and secondary schools. One person from each pool will be chosen to represent that District at Region One based. They will be chosen by a committee based on essays written by their campus principal which will highlight their accomplishments and unique approach to service and excellence in the classroom.

Los Fresnos High School: Tessah Zepeda, Forensic Science Teacher - CTE Department Head
Los Fresnos United: Corinne Spellane, English Teacher
Los Cuates Middle School: Melody Barrera, 8th Grade Alegbra 1 – Honors Mathematics
Yvette Munoz, Liberty Memorial Middle School: 6th-8th Grade PE Coach – Dance Sponsor
Mireya Guevara, Resaca Middle School: ESL – LDL instructor
Elementary Schools:
Dora Romero Elementary: Dalia De La Fuente, 5th Grade Teacher
Laureles Elementary: Gloria Lopez, Coding Lab Teacher
Los Fresnos Elementary: Desiree Minahan, 4th Grade Teacher
Lopez-Riggins Elementary: Ruth Garza, Dyslexia Lab Teacher
Las Yescas Elementary: Rosario Corona, 4th Grade Teacher
Palmer-Laakso Elementary: Dalia Hernandez, 3rd Grade Bilingual Teacher
Olmito Elementary: Sandra Ramirez, Pre-Kinder Teacher

The Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation also presented each Teacher of the Year recipient with a $100 award to mark the achievement. Members of the LFCISD Education Foundation Board of Trustees were in attendance to congratulate them.
