The Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent Advisory Committee recently had the opportunity to tour several exciting new facilities currently under construction across the district. This tour provided valuable insight into the progress of these state-of-the-art spaces, designed to enhance student success and prepare them for the future.
The committee, made up of two students from each of the District’s 14 campuses, visited key areas, including:
- The Performing Arts Center: A venue designed to support the district's growing fine arts programs, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents and creativity.
- The CTE (Career and Technical Education) Center: An innovative space for hands-on learning in fields such as technology, business, and skilled trades, giving students a head-start in preparing for careers after graduation.
- The Agriculture and Manual Trades Shops: Purpose-built facilities that will allow students to gain practical experience in agriculture, carpentry, welding, and other hands-on disciplines.
- The Culinary Arts Bistro: A professional-grade kitchen and dining area where students will have the chance to develop culinary skills while learning in a real-world setting.
“These facilities will play a pivotal role in enhancing our students' educational experiences,” said a Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent. “They will provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their chosen fields.”
Throughout the tour, the Advisory Committee had the opportunity to learn more about the construction process and the planning behind these new buildings. These modern facilities are designed not only to expand opportunities for students but also to provide a learning environment that supports academic achievement and career readiness.
The Culinary Arts Bistro is scheduled to be completed in the first phase of the CTE Center construction schedule. The Performing Arts Center is currently on track to open its’ doors in the Fall of 2025.
