Los Fresnos CISD has launched the Aspiring Principal Fellowship Program, a comprehensive leadership development initiative tailored for educators who aspire to step into the role of principal. The program aims to shape well-rounded, capable leaders who can drive excellence in both academics and school culture.
"We believe that effective school leadership starts with professional development," said Kathleen Hollon, Executive Director for Talent Development and Support Services. "This fellowship is a unique opportunity for fellows to build the necessary skills to lead a campus with confidence and compassion, all while gaining valuable real-world experience."
The program will focus on key leadership competencies and will provide hands-on learning experiences. Through regular meetings and on-the-job training, candidates will focus on refining their leadership practices as they relate to the four core competencies of the Los Fresnos CISD Profile of a Leader.
"Shadowing a principal gives fellows the chance to learn directly from someone who has experience in the role," said Hollon. "This mentorship will allow candidates to refine their leadership style and deepen their understanding of the responsibilities of being a principal."
The Aspiring Principal Fellowship Program at Los Fresnos CISD is a strategic investment in the district’s future. By developing a pipeline of talented, skilled, and knowledgeable leaders, the program ensures that Los Fresnos CISD will continue to have strong leadership on its’ campuses, guiding students toward success.
"This program is designed for preparing leaders who are capable of inspiring and leading," said Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent. "It's not just about the technical aspects of the role, but about learning how to motivate a team, build a positive school culture, and make a lasting impact on students’ lives."
