Jennifer Elizondo named Los Fresnos CISD Special Services Director

Los Fresnos CISD welcomes Jennifer Elizondo to the Los Fresnos CISD Leadership Team in the role of Director of Special Services.

“I look forward to providing supportive and equitable learning environments so that all students may reach their full potential,” said Elizondo.

Elizondo holds a
Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Brownsville as well as her Masters of Education degree specializing in Special Education.

During her career in public education that spans 20 years, she has served as a special education paraprofessional, special education teacher, assistant principal, and most recently principal at Lopez-Riggins Elementary School in the Los Fresnos CISD.

“As I transition into my role as the Special Services Director, I am filled with both excitement and a deep sense of responsibility. This opportunity allows me to build on the incredible work of my predecessor as well as bring a fresh perspective to our team,” said Elizondo.

Elizondo had the opportunity to transition into her new role guidance of Dr. Griselda Wells.  Dr. Wells, who is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (Doctorate level), is retiring after 24 years with Los Fresnos CISD.  She has been an integral part of the Special Services team, serving as director for eight years.  She started her career in 1992 as Special Education Teacher, before transitioning to Educational Diagnostician, and later, School Psychologist.

I have had to pleasure to work with Mrs. Elizondo and she always had a great spirit of advocacy for our special needs students. Being at the helm of the Special Services Department brings her full-circle in her journey of service to this student population. She is already proving to be a great asset to this department and I know she will always be a proponent for the needs of our students,” said Dr. Wells.

"I look forward to collaborating with my dedicated colleagues to foster a culture of excellence in the Special Services department,” said Elizondo.  “Together, we will strive to unlock the full potential of our students, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to succeed both academically and socially.”

Mrs. Jennifer Elizondo may be contacted at the Special Services Department at (956) 254-5100.
