Los Fresnos CISD Set to Delay Start of School – Tuesday, January 16

The Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District continues to monitor changes in the forecast that impact our school community.   The District will delay the start of school on Tuesday, January 16 by two hours due to inclement weather.

The following are the adjusted instructional hours for all fourteen campuses:

Schools:

Start Time:

Elementary Schools:

9:50 a.m.

Middle Schools:

10:20 a.m.

High Schools:

10:30 a.m.

 

*With the exception of campus administrators, Los Fresnos CISD PD and maintenance personnel, all campus employees will report two hours later than their regularly scheduled arrival time.

**Parents may bring their children to school during regular hours of operation if needed.

***All high school students (Los Fresnos High School and Los Fresnos United) should report directly to their second period class.

The District is set to resume normal hours of operation on Wednesday, January 17.

TRANSPORTATION:

  • Los Fresnos CISD will delay bus routes by two hours.
  • Parents may utilize the Stopfinder App to track their child’s bus in real time.
DRESS CODE

Los Fresnos CISD students will be allowed to wear the following items not within dress code to stay warm:

  • Hoodies
  • Pullovers
  • Sweatpants

The following programs and events have been canceled or postponed:

All After School Programs – Monday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 16

Los Fresnos High School/Los Fresnos United

All sub-varsity activities are canceled on Monday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 16.

VARSITY BASKETBALL GAMES vs. San Benito – Moved to Wednesday, January 17. 

  • Boys: 6:00 p.m.
  • Girls: 7:00 p.m.

“For many of our students school represents a safe space for learning and to get a warm meal during cold weather conditions. We remain alert and focused on serving our school community this week,” said Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent of Schools.
