Jessica Montero is kicking off her first Falcon girls varsity soccer season as Head Coach.
Montero, who was a three-year assistant coach with the team, was promoted to the position over the summer.
Montero’s passion for soccer began when she was a little girl and followed her through the years. “I watched games with my dad growing up, and became a huge fan of the sport,” said Montero. She successfully played in high school before pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas at Brownsville (now UTRGV).
Montero began her career in teaching in 2008 and subsequently coached soccer for three years before welcoming her two children. Montero, who teaches Chemistry at Los Fresnos united, picked up coaching again in 2020, becoming the first assistant for the Los Fresnos Varsity Girls’ soccer team. She says her children, and students, motivate her desire to coach the sport she loves.
“I love soccer and am very passionate about coaching my students. My daughter has seen the excitement of the game and the great example our girls set, and has also taken up the sport,” said Montero.
The Falcon girls soccer varsity soccer season starts Friday, December 8, 2023.
