Los Fresnos Swimming and Diving Defend District Titles at District 32-6A Meet

The Los Fresnos High School swimming team swam away with the District 32-6A Girls and Boys titles at the district meet held at the Weslaco Aquatic Center.

The Los Fresnos Girls took first place with 191 points, followed by Harlingen High School with 131 and Weslaco High School with 81. This is the seventh consecutive year the team are District Champions.

The Los Fresnos Boys took first place with 236 points followed by Harlingen High School with 106 points and Weslaco High School with 70. This is the fourteenth consecutive year the team are District Champions.

Student athletes earned a total of 29 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals. The following also earned designations:

· Jada Ashford was named Girls Swimmer of the Year

· Evangeline Wrinkle was named Girls Diver of the Year

· Coach Jaime Perez was the Girls and Boys swimming Coach of the Year

· Coach Stefanie Irving Esquibel was the Girls Diving Coach of the Year

A total of fourteen girls and seventeen boys qualified for the regional meet to be held February 3-4 at the United ISD Aquatic Center in Laredo, TX.

The top two athletes from each event will qualify for state competition.
