Middle, High School Bands Earn UIL Sweepstakes Designation

The Los Fresnos CISD band program is ending the year on a high note, earning UIL Sweepstakes designations at the high school and middle school levels during competition.

The designations come after all four schools, Los Fresnos High School, Los Cuates, Liberty, and Resaca Middle Schools participated in UIL competition this year. The competitions took place between March 30th and April 14th. The bands are evaluated and rated by a panel of three judges with a composite score that ranged from Division 1 (Superior) to Division 5 (Poor).

At the Middle School level, the band must earn a 1st Division in both Concert and Sight Reading evaluations to earn the UIL Sweepstakes.

At the High School level, the band should earn a 1st Division in UIL Marching Contest in the Fall. In the Spring, they must earn a 1st Division in Concert and Sight Reading as well.

Los Fresnos High School sent three bands for a total of 140 students.

Two bands each competed from Los Cuates Middle school and Liberty Memorial for a total of 140 students.

Resaca Middle School sent one band for a total of 50 students.
