Strategic Planning Sets New Goals for District Framework, Improvements

Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District is working to develop a comprehensive plan to set future goals for the district through a Strategic Planning process. The district has partnered with Engage 2 Learn, who is leading the district in the community-inclusive call to action.

The process started in February with district wide surveys, focus groups and a community summit that allowed stakeholders to voice their vision for the future. The work has continued over the course of the spring semester with a group of thirty-six representatives meeting monthly to flesh out ideas and create a plan of action. The group is a mix of community members including students, parents, teachers, campus and district leaders, community members and business and industry representatives.

“We are really outlining the future of Los Fresnos CISD and it is exciting,” said Aaron Molina, a Senior at Los Fresnos High School, who serves on the committee.

The work will culminate in June with a board workshop and the presentation of a Year One Action Plan that outlines the next steps the district will take based on the following items developed in the strategic planning process:

  • A call to action
  • A learner profile
  • A learning framework
  • District goals

“We are not just thinking of the now, we are thinking of the future and through this intentional work I have no doubt our students will continue to thrive and be prepared for whatever their future holds,”

Los Fresnos Elementary Principal, Veronica Grimaldo.

LFCISD Superintendent Dr. Gonzalo Salazar adds, “I have really enjoyed the way this process has amplified student voice in our school district. We look forward to the future and the impact our work the past few months will have on teaching and learning in Los Frensos CISD.”
