LFHS Band Students Earn “All-State” Designation

The sweet melody of success echoes through the halls of Los Fresnos High for two students who have been named Texas All-State Musicians.  Elaina Garza and Aracely Garcia earned the Texas Music Educators Assocation (TMEA) designation following a competitive process that included a pool of 50,000 candidates.  The girls now join 1,858 other “All-Staters” whose extraordinary commitment and hard work was reflected in their personal musical development.

About the Process

They say practice makes perfect, and that couldn’t be truer for these Los Fresnos Band students.  Elaina Garza, who is a two-time “All-State” recipient plays trumpet and Aracely Garcia plays bassoon in the LFHS band.  The girls worked hard in the lead up to the TMEA competition, that begins with several stages of qualifications. Qualifiers were chosen during a process that begins with auditions in the fall throughout 33 TMEA regions across the state. During the process, musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice through a system.  The competition also helps to foster dedication to musical knowledge and skill and to encourage educators to support their students. The ladies secured their spots at the State final following district, regional, and area competitions. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.

The Texas Music Educators Association is an association of over 13,500 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education.
