The Los Fresnos High School Mariachi Nuevo Halcón earned straight Division I rating from judges at the UIL State Mariachi Festival on June 18-19 at Seguin High School.
All 16 members of the group who made the trip to Seguin earned Outstanding Performer awards as well – more than any other Class 6A school participating.
Students earning the Outstanding Performer Awards were:

- Guitara de Golpe: Omar Galaviz
- Harp: Karen Garcia
- Trumpet: Mia Enriquez, Rafael Gausin Jr., Isaac Sanchez
- Vihuela: Felipe Diaz
- Violin: Abril Esquivel, Beatriz Garcia, Samantha Jones, Diego Maciel, Abigail Martinez, Carolina Rodriguez, Vivien Vela, Megan Velasquez
This event brought together some of the finest mariachi groups in the state for an exhibition of musical excellence.
