District students to take part in Christmas event Saturday

About 300 Los Fresnos CISD students will participate in a special Los Fresnos Christmas Celebration at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The event will take place on the spacious grounds of the Los Fresnos Rodeo parking areas. It’s a reverse-type parade where performing groups will be stationary, and vehicles will slowly travel through the route to view the performers and other community groups.

Everyone participating will be required to wear masks and to observe social distancing.

The first 500 vehicles will receive one dozen tamales free, courtesy of Parra’s Tamales of Los Fresnos. The first 100 vehicles will also receive a free turkey, courtesy of the Los Fresnos Boys and Girls Club. Both distributions will take place near the end of the vehicle route.

All nine elementary schools will have either dance or music groups. The Los Fresnos High School Band, Cheer Team, Stars Dance Team, and Conjunto Halcón are also participating.

Santa Claus will be perched on a Los Fresnos Fire Department truck at the end of the route.
