Los Fresnos CISD Names Four Principals for the 2022-23 School Year

The Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District is proud to announce the selection of four new principals for the 2022-23 school year. The new principals, who have over 70 years of combined experience in education, will lead the campuses of Los Fresnos United, Liberty Memorial Middle School, Resaca Middle School, and Villareal Elementary School. The candidates were recommended by district administration and approved by the Board of Trustees during a board meeting in June. Right now, they are currently in the process of transitioning to their respective campus and look forward to serving the students and families of Los Fresnos and surrounding communities. Please help us welcome the following administrators to your campus:

Los Fresnos United

Principal: Maria Elisa Pineda

Maria Elisa Pineda joins the Los Fresnos United family as the principal for the 2022-2023 school year.  Pineda, who has 15 years of experience in education, previously served in the role of principal at Resaca Middle School and Rancho Verde Elementary for a combined nine years. Mrs. Pineda and her three children are part of the Falcon family as proud LFHS alumni. She is thrilled to continue serving her community in this new role.

Pineda attended the University of Texas in Brownsville holds a Master’s degree in Special Education, a Certificate of Leadership, and a Generalist certificate.

 

Liberty Memorial Middle School

Principal: Bernardo J. Paredes

Bernardo J. Paredes joins the Liberty Memorial Middle School family as the principal for the 2022-2023 school year.  Mr. Paredes is a product of Los Fresnos, and was excited to return to his hometown in 2015 to serve as an assistant principal at LFHS and LFU for seven years. Mr. Paredes has successfully spent over two decades working for local districts. He worked directly in the classroom for thirteen years teaching Social Studies, and another five years in the maintenance department while simultaneously attending college. 

Paredes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government with a minor in History from the University of Texas at Brownsville, a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management, and a Principal certificate.

 

Resaca Middle School

Principal: Dr. Apolonia Renteria

Dr. Apolonia Renteria joins the Resaca Middle School family as the principal for the 2022-23 school year. Dr. Renteria joins Los Fresnos CISD after spending fifteen years in roles in other districts that include assistant principal, middle and high school counselor, and a science teacher. She is a passionate administrator who looks forward to enhancing and building the RMS team to help create educational opportunities that build student success.

Dr. Renteria’s brings an extensive educational background to her work at RMS. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, and Master of Science degree

in School Counseling from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. She graduated with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University in Kingsville in 2020.

Villareal Elementary

Principal: Sharon Snodgrass

Ms. Sharon Snodgrass joins the Villareal Elementary School family as the principal for the 2022-23 school year. Ms. Snodgrass marks her twenty-sixth year in public education with the move to principal after spending the last five years as an Assistant Principal-Instructional Officer at Villareal and Palmer-Laakso Elementaries. Prior to joining administration, she spent twenty years serving elementary students in third and fifth grades. Her goal is to establish a collaborative learning environment through positive relationships that support academic and social growth.

Snodgrass holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and Principal certificate.
