Molina Named Recipient of Prestigious Gates Scholarship for 2022

Los Fresnos High School Valedictorian Aaron Molina has been named one of three-hundred recipients of the Gates Scholarship for 2022.

Molina was selected from a pool of over 35,000 candidates to win the scholarship following a rigorous application process. The scholarship, available to top minority students, covers all expenses for selected Scholars’ undergraduate education for a period of up to 5-years. The funds can be can be used for tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, ensuring the full cost of education is met.

Molina plans to attend his dream school, Princeton University, this Fall where he will major in Mathematics. He worked closely with the staff of the College Center at Los Fresnos High School to apply for university and identify potential scholarships that could aid in his higher education. As a result of his hard work, he was already the recipient of a combined $1,125,956.00 in scholarship monies, $264,220 of which is from Princeton University.

“I am humbled by this amazing opportunity to continue my education journey. I am grateful to my parents, family, educators, and professional staff who have encouraged and supported me on my road to success,” said Aaron Molina, Gates Scholarship recipient.

Molina is a product of Los Fresnos C.I.S.D. schools, attending Olmito Elemtary (OES) and Resaca Middle (RMS) schools before Los Fresnos High School (LFHS).

He is one in a series of highly successful students from Los Fresnos public schools to be awarded a Gates scholarship.
