On February 18-19, 2022 the Los Fresnos High School Mariachi Nuevo Halcon competed at the Texas Association of Mariachi Educator’s State Competition held at the San Antonio College McAllister Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas. Over 40 groups from throughout Texas travelled to compete for the coveted state championship title.
Los Fresnos High School ranked 4th in the State of Texas among schools in the 6A classification! Over the last 5 years, the LFHS Mariachi Nuevo Halcón has consistently ranked within the top 5 mariachi groups in the state. Directors Hector Bermea and Rafael Gausin are extremely proud of all the work the students do to continue to lift up the name of our Los Fresnos community.
