Maintenance trades staff trained on cleaning

About 30 Los Fresnos CISD maintenance trades staff received Cleaning and Disinfecting Training Aug. 10 as part of the preparation for the return of students for the 2020-21 school year.

All campus custodians participated in the training Tuesday. Eventually, all Los Fresnos CISD staff will complete this training once all staff has returned to campus.

Four district and campus administrators – Ben Estrada, Cindy Garcia, B.J. Paredes, and Vanessa Rodriguez – have trained manual trades staff about preparing for, responding to, and recovering from biohazards in the workplace.

Participants were taught infection and contamination control measures for infectious disease outbreak situations such as the COVID-19.

Stopping the spread of the virus was emphasized by the team of presenters who presented the training to the Maintenance staff. The staff received training to stop the spread by:
  • Using recommended cleaners and disinfectants – label must be followed, wet time to inactivate virus
  • Washing of hands is critical – how to wash hands, scrubbing hands for at least 20 seconds, and following guidelines of hand washing
  • Using hand sanitizer only when soap and water are not available
Other parts of the training included frequently touched areas, classroom and bathroom points of emphasis in a classroom, bathroom and nurse's station; and procedures on a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.
