Why did you want to go into the teaching profession?
Music being my passion, I wanted to pursue my passion as a profession. When I began studying music in college, I was already performing at music venues as a gigging musician. I also was into audio recording and did that on my spare time. My parents always told me I had a passion for teaching others around me about music. I felt I wanted to make a difference in peoples lives through music.

Who or what influenced you to seek a future in education?
It wasn't until my college elementary music courses that I realized teaching was what I wanted to do. My music professor Sally Trenfield Sandoval was a big influence to me to pursue music education. I loved the idea that I could help students and share my passion at the same time in a classroom setting.

Why did you choose to seek a position at Los Fresnos CISD?
I was born and raised in Brownsville, where I attended elementary and middle school. After middle school, my parents decided to build and move our family to Los Fresnos. I attended and graduated from Los Fresnos High School and gained so much pride and respect for my school, town and school district. Even though I went on to teach several years in another district, I always felt Los Fresnos CISD had an honorable, recognizable and respectful reputation. My goal was to one day return and teach for Los Fresnos CISD.

What does the district motto “What We Do Here Shapes the World” mean to you?
Our motto means that our district develops an educational foundation for students to continue to grow and succeed in their lives. We as educators have to give the best education possible to our students so that they carry on the skills to become a better future for the world.
