This is the image for the news article titled Learning classes registration scheduled ThursdayThere is another chance to register for classes for the Academy of Lifelong Learning, a partnership between Texas Southmost College and Los Fresnos CISD.

One more registration for the spring session of the AofLL will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at the Los Fresnos High School Library.

Continuous registration is ongoing at the Parental and Family Engagement Office, located at the Board Room/Training Center on Texas Highway 100 next to Los Fresnos Elementary.

The AoLL will provide a variety of new, affordable, fun and conveniently located non-credit continuing education classes to residents in the Los Fresnos area. All that is needed is a desire to learn a new talent, skill or computer program – skills that can be used for a lifetime. Students of any age can participate.

Most classes will be held at Los Fresnos High School and Los Fresnos United, except for a skateboarding class that will be offered at the Los Fresnos Skate Park. The skateboarding class is open to those 12 years of age and older who wish to learn about the fundamentals of skateboarding.

Course fees range from $30 to $60 per course per session. Each course has a minimum number of students.

Continuing education classes will be offered in the following areas:
  • Argentine Tango: Six classes of 90 minutes each for a total of nine hours.
  • Cooking with Grandparents: One 2½-hour class on Saturday mornings
  • Culinary Instruction: One three-hour course on Friday evenings
  • Healthy Cooking: One two-hour course on Tuesday evenings
  • Healthy Living: Six two-hour courses on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings; the first of two sessions begins April 9
  • Latin: Three three-hour courses on Saturday mornings
  • Self-Defense for Women: Four 2 ½-hour class on Saturday mornings
  • Skateboarding: Six two-hour class on Saturday mornings
Technology classes will be offered in the following areas:
  • Keyboarding/computer basics: Four two-hour classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
  • Medical Terminology: Six two-hour on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
  • Microsoft Word for Beginners: Four three-hour classes on Saturday mornings
  • Microsoft Word: Eight one-hour classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings
  • Microsoft Excel: Eight two-hour classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings
