District receives Distinction for 6th straight year

The distinction designations began in 2014 and Los Fresnos CISD has reached the achievement each year.

Los Fresnos High School/Los Fresnos United were combined to one campus for reporting purposes since it represents grades 9 through 12 like other high schools.

All District campuses received a “Met Standard” rating and numerous distinctions including the Post-Secondary Readiness Distinction – a measure that looks at how schools are preparing students with college and career-readiness skills.

Distinctions
  • Five Los Fresnos CISD schools received perfect scores for distinctions – either 7 out of 7 or 6 out of 6
  • Los Fresnos High School/Los Fresnos United received 7 out of 7 possible distinctions.
  • Los Cuates Middle School received 7 out of 7 possible distinctions.
  • Dora Romero Elementary, Olmito Elementary and Rancho Verde Elementary schools received 6 out of 6 possible distinctions
Los Fresnos CISD has traditionally been among the top-performing districts in the Region One Education Service Center with students consistently exceeding regional and state averages in all areas including reading, mathematics, writing, science and social studies in grades 3 through 8. This level of performance has also been consistently sustained at the high school level where students also have exceeded state and regional averages in End-of-Course exams in English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology I and U.S. History.
