Laureles teams have now won five of the last eight EAE championships. LES had won three straight titles from 2014-2016.
Two Miustang teams finished among the top three in the elementary division. The LES Masters, comprised of Lesly Esqueda, Maya Flores, Destiny Hernandez and Gian Michi, took home the first-place trophy with 460 points.

The Los Fresnos Elementary RoboGoats #2, made up Meredith Pineda, Abigail Karavasilis, Destiny Torres and Maya Martinez, were a close second with 450 points.

The LES Destroyers, comprised of Michael Hamrick, Emmanuel Uribe, Jose Flores and Eleesha Ramirez, were right behind in third place with 440 points.

Los Cuates Middle School A Team took home the top trophy in the middle school division with 410 points. Team members were Kaedan Rojas, Hector Turrubiates, Ethan Bordes and Agustin Saenz. Resaca Middle School teams took second and third.

The Los Fresnos United Falcon Fury won the high school division with Favian Alaniz, Ernesto Garcia and Chris Simpson. Los Fresnos High School teams placed second and third.

The district competition is a preliminary meet for the Texas Computer Educators Association (TCEA) Area Competition, scheduled Jan. 18, 2020, at Edinburg North High School.

The 2019-20 TCEA Challenge game is titled “Bees, Bots and Beyond.” Each year teams of students, sponsored by members of the TCEA, receive a set of challenge rules and specifications designed around a theme that varies from year to year. Teams compete against one another in head-to-head competition through regional and state level play.
