Delgado receives Hispanic Heritage Gold Award

Delgado, the top-ranked student in the LFHS Class of 2019, received the award at a ceremony held Tuesday at The University of Houston. Nine other ceremonies are scheduled in major cities throughout the country.

Other categories included Business and Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education and Technology and Engineering. There were 13,000 applications nation-wide. Eligible students must be 2019 graduates and have minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Delgado is a National AP Scholar and a National Hispanic Scholar. She has extensive volunteer community service hours at Valley Regional Medical Center and Walgreen's Pharmacy. She has served as a volunteer assistant for volleyball skills at Rancho Verde Elementary School.

The Youth Awards was founded in 1998 by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. It is the main pipeline to Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s (HHF) system of talent that prepares and positions Latino youth through the award-winning Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program as they transition from high school, to college, to graduate school, and into their careers.
