The district has received the award each year since the TEA started the accountability system in 2014.

Los Fresnos CISD is one of xx school districts and charters in Texas to achieve postsecondary readiness distinction in xxx.

The distinction takes into account factors such as graduation rates, ACT/SAT participation and performance, Career and Technical Education (CTE) graduates and dual-credit course completion rates. Postsecondary readiness is the only distinction at the district level.

"We set out every year to deliver a quality educational experience for all students and this distinction validates the efforts of the entire learning community," Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent Gonzalo Salazar said. "Receiving this distinction at the start of the school year furthers our resolve to continue to create the types of experiences that our students deserve.

"This means that as parents, when our students walk across the stage at commencement, they are not only receiving a high school diploma, they are taking with them academic and soft skills to succeed in a college or university setting. We are adding value to the high school experience as our students acquire college credit and industry certifications."

The four index standards include student performance, student progress, closing performance gaps, and postsecondary readiness, and are based on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) scores.
