Parents, public invited to Los Fresnos Experience April 28

Programs showcased at Los Fresnos Experience Saturday

This is the image for the news article titled Programs showcased at Los Fresnos Experience SaturdayThe public is invited to the Los Fresnos CISD Experience, an exhibition of programs and activities the school district has to offer, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Los Fresnos United.

The Experience is an opportunity for students attending or planning to attend Los Fresnos CISD schools to learn more about the instructional programs available.

“We invite everyone who wishes to learn more about Los Fresnos CISD’s tradition of excellence to come take part of the experience,” Superintendent Gonzalo Salazar said. “This event has been designed to provide parents in-depth knowledge that will allow them to work alongside us to map out a plan for our children, who are our first priority.”

There will be Career and Technology Education (CTE) stations featuring student demonstrations. Students, teachers and program sponsors will be at each booth for demonstrations in the following programs:
  • Advanced Academics
  • Agriculture and Livestock
  • App Development
  • Arts
  • Audio/Visual Technology
  • Business Information Systems
  • DECA
  • Dual Enrollment
  • Falcon Law
  • Forensic Science
  • Robotics
  • TED-Ed
“We trust that this experience will be informative and that students and parents will acquire a deeper understanding of the our strong focus on instruction,” Salazar said. “There are some incredible enrichment opportunities available for our students.”
 
Texas Southmost College students will also participate and showcase its CTE programs.

The district will also showcase student entertainment from each of its 14 campuses. The on-stage entertainment will begin with the Los Fresnos High School Conjunto Halcón and conclude with the LFHS Mariachi Halcón. The LFHS Navy Junior ROTC unit will also participate.

Middle school bands and elementary school cheer, dance and drill teams will also participate.

“Los Fresnos CISD has a long-standing tradition of excellence in education and we attribute the success of our students to the partnerships forged by the single vision for student success,” Salazar said. “This success is shared by parents, students, teachers, administration, the city of Los Fresnos and the many areas that we serve.”
