Trustees Recognize Teams at Monday Meeting

Varsity cross country, volleyball and football teams were recognized at the Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees meeting Monday evening.

At board meetings during the school year, teams and school groups are presented before the board, to include team and individual achievements.

The LFHS girls' cross country team qualified for regional competition, and its team members and one boy who qualified for regional was also recognized.

The district champion volleyball team, which reached the third round of the playoffs, was honored next, followed by the varsity football team, which was district co-champs.

In other action, trustees awarded an agreement for Agent of Record for Voluntary Insurance Products to U.S. Employee Benefits Service Group of Grapevine, Texas.

Trustees also approved a report on board member training requirements that showed that all seven trustees have met required board training hours.

Trustees also approved two teaching positions:
  • Eliseo Ybarra, Science Teacher, DAEP
  • Jesus Mendez, Special Education Teacher, Resaca Middle School

In other action, trustees approved the following:

  • A copier lease/purchase financing agreement with Toshiba Financial Services, and authorized the Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer to execute the required documents on behalf of the district.
  • Minutes for meetings held on November 9 and November 16, 2015.
  • Budget Amendment #3 for Fiscal Year 2015-16
  • the 2016 Migrant Academic Achievement Residential Summer Program (MAARS) Partnership Agreement with Texas State Technical College in Harlingen.
  • District reports, including portfolio report, tax collection report, summary revenue and expenditure status reports, monthly disbursements, and budget amendments.
