Eduardo Garcia Jr. and Isaac Garza from Los Fresnos High School earned placements in the Texas All-State Band and will perform with the Texas All-State Band in San Antonio Feb. 16.

Garcia plays clarinet and Garza plays trumpet. Conrad Fliegel, trumpet, was selected as alternate. The All-State band is composed of 220 members.

Students competed against students from all across the entire Valley, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Sugarland and Fort Bend at the competition in Alice Jan. 12.

These students will rehearse and perform with the All-State Band in San Antonio in conjunction with the Texas Music Educators Association Convention held Feb. 13-16 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

The students perform at the LFHS Band under the direction of Michael Garcia.

High school students selected to perform in the All-State concerts have competed through several levels of auditions beginning last fall. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve.

The Texas Music Educators Association is a group of more than 11,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. The convention is the nation's largest for music educators.
