Four Los Fresnos CISD Students Head to Washington for Inauguration

Brandon Colon and Claudia Cuellar will join brothers Vincente and Eric Sanchez to represent Los Fresnos CISD at the inauguration of President Obama during activities Jan. 18-21 in Washington, D.C.

 

The four will be part of student groups around the country taking part in the Presidential Inaugural Conference. They have also been invited to attend one of the many Inaugural balls for President Obama on the evening of his inauguration Monday, Jan. 20.

 

Vincente left for Washington Friday, while the other three left Saturday. All four will have part of their expenses paid.

 

Brandon was invited to go by the National Leadership Forum, a program he participated in during summer 2011.

 

Claudia, a member of the Lady Falcons' soccer team took part in the National Youth Leadership Conference last summer in Houston. She was fortunate enough to be one of the students at the conference to be invited to the inauguration. The senior is also a member of HOSA and the Key Club at LFHS.

 

Vincente attended the Engineering and Technology-LeadAmerica in Boston last summer, and received his invitation from the group later. The junior plays trumpet for the LFHS Band and is a member of DECA.

 

Eric, a freshman at Los Fresnos United who also plays the trumpet in the LFHS band, attended a Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington in 2009. He received a letter notifying him that all alumni could attend the inauguration.
